Melanocyte named cells contains melanin named pigment  which gives color to skin .

 Depending upon  depth and structures and  functionality of melanocytes  gives proper coloration to skin .

 Depending on amount of melanin present in body gives coppery , blackish black coloration to skin .

Patho physiology of leucoderrma

 

 As name defines leuco means white derma means skin

A disease characterized by white ness so called as leucoderma

 Skin is mainly consist of dermis and epidermis

Dermis is consist of

                        Stratum corninum

                         Stratum lucidum

                          Stratum granulosum

                          Stratum mucosum

In stratum mucosum layer contains  stratum reteculosum  which  contains cells called melanocytes which contains pigment known as melanin  whiuch gives coloration to skin.

    When this color giving melanocytes does not work properly so that there is no proper melanin pigment. When this functions at low level that is hypo secretion causes deficiency leads to leucoderma  that is white skin. When these cells work at high level cause hyper function leading to excessive  secretion  leading to excessive level of melanin causing blackness  called as melanosis  black pigmentation .

                           Traditional treatment consist of Marjory local applications and systemic sporalens (medicine which sensitize skin to ultraviolet rays of sun leading  to stimulation to melanin pigment )

v         Is Steroids are used in leucoderma Treatment
